Phosphorescent

Here's some incredibly solid indie folk-rock that comes to us via the fabulous combination of Athens, GA and NYC.

Laura Veirs

Veirs' 2010 album July Flame is a carefully composed work that seems to present something new with each listen. Let me know what you think.

Freelance Whales: Weathervanes

Weathervanes was the 2010 debut album of this NYC-based band. Taking a stylistic queue from Sufjan Stevens, they've got banjos, harmoniums, and xylophones in the mix to create a captivating sound.

Blitzen Trapper: Destroyer of the Void

I really like the laid back, Americana-drenched sound of this Oregon-based band.

Grinderman: Grinderman 2

What do you think of this Nick Cave project? I'm on the fence a bit, but still can't stop listening to this 2010 album.

Tontelas feat. Ski: On My Way

Off the 2010 compilation album Coming Home by Boozoo Bajou, the German duo also responsible for the Juke Joint compilations some of you might have heard of. This is ridiculously smooth song, and I hope you enjoy it.

Caribou: Milk of Human Kindness

This is an interesting album released in 2005 by this one man Canadian band also know as Dan Snaith.

Ceci Bastida: Veo La Marea

Ceci has recently cross the border from Mexico to the US with a 2010 solo album. Let me know what you think.

Basement Jaxx

Spiffy little tune off this British duo's 2009 album, Scars. I think they must have spent all their money on their recording sessions, don't you agree?!

The Plastics Revolution

Catchy song. Incredible video. Enjoy.

Enrique Morente (1942-2010)

Here's a riveting performance by this great flamenco singer and a troupe of hilariously clad accompanists. Wow, 1980!

Laura Marling: Rambling Man

The song below, off the 2010 album, I Speak because I Can, is a magnificent piece of pop-folk. Marling has a powerful voice, and her songs are technically interesting, reminding this listener of a modernized Bob Dylan, or Nick Drake.
