Young The Giant: My Body

Hailing from Irvine, California, the rock band has got some traction on the charts with this single, which was released in January. Plebeian that I am, I only recently heard it.

Bayside: Sick Sick Sick

Feel like some angst-filled punk/pop/alt-rock today? This band, from Queens, might be just what you're looking for. Off the album Killing Time, released in February.

Buck 65: Dang

Another unique Canadian artist. This song is off his 2007 album, Situation.

Alex Winston: Choice Notes

I believe this song has been the soundtrack of a commercial, so it might sound vaguely familiar. She introduces herself in the beginning of this video, so enjoy.

Gold Panda: Marriage

Artfully produced video, brilliant electronic track. Gold Panda is an Englishman who lives in Japan.

Frank Ocean

Here is a smooth sounding song in a growing genre some call "hipster friendly" hip hop. What do you think?

Voxhaul Broadcast: Leaving On The 5th

Every Friday deserves a dose of this band:

The Airborne Toxic Event: Sometime Around Midnight

This Los Angeles-based band has just released a new album entitled All At Once, and it is a solid effort, but I still think that the song below, off their self-titled 2008 debut album is their best. It is brimming with more hipness and yearning than any one pop song deserves.

The Desperate Bicycles

Classic English Punk.

Jonathan Jeremiah: Happiness

Here is an incredibly feel-good song from this interesting British singer/songwriter.

Glasvegas: The World Is Yours

Scottish pop-rock off this band's recently released album, EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\.

Vijay Iyer

Iyer is one of the most exciting jazz artists our there right now. Check out his website, here.

Foster the People: Pumped Up Kicks

This song has made some noise on the charts in most English-speaking countries for this Los Angeles-based rock band. It is more or less a straightforward song, but the bass line and chorus will make you replay it again and again.

Austine: Petite Pute

Off this French artist's 2007 album, Ouh La La La.

This Dutch trio's latest album, Electric Hustle, will be released later this month.

Has-Lo: In Case I Don't Make It

Here's a catchy tune from this Philadelphia-based performer:
